Honey Adam, Thanks for your lessons. I have a question and a suggestion. About question 7, if there is no comma is still a clause as long as it has a verb and a subject, am I right? I always though we needed a comma to place clauses. And the suggestion is that maybe in your later tutorials you could talk well-nigh appositives as well :) Thanks again, nice tattoo.
aurora.sahagun

Actually, commas have a very item function in clauses. When I get into the private clauses y'all will see what I mean.

Tin can yous await at my sentence delight " when was the last time you someone makes or make an ancient crafts " . My question is which ane is right (make or makes ) ? Because I lost 1 marking on this:(
noofasa
Hi Noofsa,
When was the last fourth dimension you lot someone makes or make an ancient crafts When was the terminal time you or someone you know Made an aboriginal craft?
the concluding time = the past (made)
Hope this helps.
Adam
It is difficult, but I have to try and find out my mistake and so I volition acquire from that. Give thanks you, Adam
yengkong96
Very helpful! cannot be sure about the difference betwixt noun clause every bit object and noun clause as bailiwick
amazonove
Hi Amazonove,
Look at what it is doing in the judgement– is it doing the verb (subject), or is it receiving/the target of the verb (object)?
Kickoff, it helps to know what subjects and objects are and do in a judgement. ;)
Adam
Hi Adam! Please tell me which is right: 1 Why do you wear this shirt today(now)? 2 Why are you wearing this shirt today(now)? Thank you lot.

#ii is correct. You are wearing it now (continuous)
Simply… why exercise you wear that shirt every day?

Adam which of them IS or ARE I must use in the next sentences(from grammatical point of view): ane There (IS/ARE) a divan, a desk and armchair in the room. 2 There (IS/ARE) a divan and a desk-bound in the room). 3 There (IS/ARE) two desks and a divan in the room).
Give thanks y'all.
Is it grammatically right to say: "there ARE NO clocks in the room" or I only could say: "there IS NO clock in the room". Bye!
KATRIN777
All 3 sentences technically need ARE, though many native speakers volition use is when the commencement noun that follows is singular.
there are no clocks and there is no clock are both right.
Adam
Thanks Adam and I accept used ARE all the time. Merely I saw this strange rule(about using IS) somewhere ane month ago in the textbook for russian kids(THE WORSE IS they give them bad degrees for using ARE in that case!). And those kids are too petty(8-ix years onetime).
KATRIN777
Yep, I've seen that too, only at schoolhouse they demand to do what the teachers desire- when they become out into the real world they'll have to adjust. :)
Adam
Dear Adam I need your happy because I accept problem with spelling I the moment I'one thousand studying English even so I can write and I don't know what to practise can you delight explicate how I tin improve. many thanks
basher10
Oh, sorry. Is it normal to say: "The room's left corner isn't equal. (or kleptomaniacal?),(or not even?) Thanks.
KATRIN777
Hi everyone, I'd similar to find a companion to practice my english language via skype, respond my comment, if you're interested:)
Vlad Moiseev
The corner is the corner, but if you lot want to say something about the walls, they are kleptomaniacal or not even (both are ok). Uneven suggests more about the alignment, while crooked is more nigh each walls lines. (if that makes sense) ;)
Adam
Thank you lot for the answer Adam! I understand clearly your explanation. Simply now I don't understand about corners!(and so I can't say the room's corners and I should say the wall'southward lines are crooked). It's getting more difficult when I must say something about everyday life.(considering no one in audiobooks and movies talks on such topics). Too bad!
KATRIN777
I should take mentioned before, but you tin use the discussion 'uneven' and then it's upward to the listener to imagine that on his/her own. Uneven just means non straight, or not balanced, or…
Adam
So it is correct "The wall is uneven."
missmanzana
Thank you Adam! Information technology was very hard test for me ….

Thanks, Adam. But I've a question: 'waterlogged' and 'flooded' what is the departure?
Sophie
Distressing, 1 more question. 'north', 'northern' and 'northerly' What is the deviation? If 3 of them are as adjective, what is the difference? Cheers.
Sophie
Hi Sophie,
A thing can exist waterlogged (like a tree, or a wall, etc.), but a place or a space tin exist flooded (lie a valley, or the basement).
n is a direction y'all take (according to a compass). (get due north five blocks, then plow east on Main Street). I t tin also exist a specific identify (with a upper-case letter letter of the alphabet) (I live in the Due north)
Northern is a place on map (I live in the northern United States). It can also distinguish between places ( i live in the northern role of the country and my sister lives in the South; the cuisine of northern China)
northerly is the direction something moves in (He traveled in a northerly direction) or the origin of something (northerly winds–they are moving from the northward)
Hope this helps.
Adam
hi there Adam, I do love y'all (as a teacher…) but in the last structured judgement I recollect it make no sense (talking about the meaning and the relationship betwixt the informations given). I didn't go the connection betwixt the first clause, wich ordinarily give the pregnant or the "sense" to the whole story, and the last ane. I mean: what's the relation between "When my mother told me…." AND "I knew she was really happy.." ? And it sounds strange to me the past tens KNEW. I don't know if I have been clear but I promise so. For the rest you lot are awesome! And I take advantage to these comments to practice with writing. Goodbye Giuseppe Italy
mescal
pitiful….it makes no sense
mescal
I disagree with respond no. 4. Could it be more than one Daniella in that visitor, why not? In fact, the author specified her nickname.
mescal
How-do-you-do Mescal,
If there were ore than 1 Daniella, then I'd first have to place which one I'm talking well-nigh before I say anything else. Daniella from accounting, whom nearly people … (from accounting would be the identifier)
Every bit for the sentence in the first comment, I'm not really sure what you're non getting. When my mother told me about Lucy, I knew (understood) that she was happy. I knew (past) because she told me (past).
If yous can clarify the question, I'll look at ti once again.
Hope this helps a bit anyway.
Adam
Splendid lesson, Adam. The way you teach us get whatsoever hard lesson like that in a calorie-free and enjoyable lesson.
genilvan
cheers, it was very insightful

I don't believe (that) I score 8. Writing is my weaker skill. Thanks Adan.
Bergvolk
Thanks for not bad explanations of such a difficult topic. Looking forward for more lessons on information technology.
Aline
Yep! I agree with y'all; he explains difficult topics with great ease. That's what a good instructor always do, isn't it?
Looking forward TO watching more lessons on "Dependent Clauses" too.
Ciao!
Regino
right, thanks!
P.S. That'southward what a good teacher always DOES.
Aline
Give thanks you for the not bad class, Adam. I am a little bit confused about the independent clause. I think 'I knew' can't express a complete thought. Should 'she was really happy' exist a noun dependent clause instead of independent clause?
kamiya1113
Hi Kamiya,
I'm not really certain I get the question, but just in case:
I knew (that) she was happy (that) I met…
I knew is the independent clause with a noun clause object and a complement that clause in the substantive clause.
Hmmm… disruptive, only that's what it is.
Does this help at all?
Adam
How-do-you-do Adam, Is the complement that clause an adverbial here as it's the reason for her happiness?
anp2008123
Mr Adam, I've come across this judgement somewhere on the spider web: I would like to have been there, only information technology wasn't possible. Is this judgement right? present + nowadays perfect + past simple If yep, what sense is it? Explain. Thanks
gag
Hi Fahdbensalman,
I think it should be: I would have liked to take been at that place… or I would have liked to be there… (the second one is preferable considering information technology's shorter and gets the point across) I would similar is used to talk abut a future desire, and then doesn't work with the past.
Adam
Mrs. Rebecca, I've learned the third provisional that: If he had asked me, I would have helped him. Simply I've come across this judgement somewhere on the web: I would have helped, but he didn't inquire. Is this judgement correct without "had" in the dependent clause? Thanks
gag
Mr Adam, I've learned the third conditional that: If he had asked me, I would accept helped him. But I've come beyond this sentence somewhere on the web: I would have helped, just he didn't ask. Is this judgement correct without "had" in the dependent clause? Thank you
gag
Yep, information technology's ok.
If he had asked me, I would have helped him, but he didn't ask. (your second example is the same but shorter and reversed.)
The uncomplicated tense if for the fact of the situation.
Adam
Adamsın.. This means "You are the human" in Turkish :)

Well my stuff wasn't actually brillant today…
I was unable to brush up all those grammer concepts at the same time. I definitively need to slumber a petty on information technology.
Cheers Adam you have pointed fields I should work with.
Nico ESL for ever
Yes! After some revisions and one solar day afterward … Now I feel more than accepted with "dependant clause".Certain it remains a niggling unsteady, luckily your side by side lessons will help to strenghten that.
Nearly the ninth question, and to check if I well sympathize. I'd tend to separate clauses like that : 5. (that) it would be inappropriate to prove to elementary students 6. who might be negatively affected by the content Nobody has noticed it. Peradventure I've missed something ?
Thanks again Adam, until the next time.
Nico ESL for ever
Hi Nico,
You lot're talking about the reply explanation… yeah, you're right. the half-dozen is misplaced; it should come before the last who every bit you lot wrote. Proficient eye ;)

Howdy friend, What is the difference between monument and memorial? Are they both interchangeable in a sentence?
gag
Hi Fahdensalman,
A monument is a physical construction used equally a memorial. A memorial doesn't have to exist concrete. It tin can be a story, or sign or a memorial service.
Also, a monument can be a display of grandeur while a memorial is merely to remember something/someone.
Adam
Greetings! Mr Adam.
we urgently need more conjuctons lectures,I watched whole lectures well-nigh conjuctions just there are yet some of them that I need to know properly, every bit an example "whereas, whereby, simultaneously, still, such as ,such that" those can be emerged sometimes in IELTS thank you in advance Regards
ayaskuz
HI Ayaskuz,

Maisy
Hullo Mr Adam, It is difficult for me to … Information technology is difficult for me to … Is at that place any divergence between them? Are they both interchangeable in a judgement? Thanks
gag
For the most role, yes, they are interchangeable. Some "purists" would say that hard is not skilful form, but about people employ both.
Adam
I left two questions yesterday and I was informed that my comments are on the moderation. How long they will be on the checking? Thank you lot.

Ghufran90
It only takes practice Ghufran :)
The cardinal s to come across it in utilise and recognizing information technology's a substantive clause. then you lot will know how to use it besides.
Adam
hello Adam, firstly many thanks for your lesson and your videos. I have a question about number viii in the test, why is complement? because I thought is the reason so adv clause, kate is relieved because janice is okay, is very confused for me, Thanks!!!!
BelenAnabelen
Howdy BelenAnabelen,
If the sentence had 'because' then information technology would exist an adverb clause. But here, the sentence is complete (Kate was very relieved) that Janice was OK doesn't say what fabricated Kate relieved, but why she is relieved. It'due south not a cause and upshot judgement. What is she relieved about? that Janice…
Does this help?
Adam
Hello Adam, I could not discover a lesson on sequence of tenses on your astonishing site. Would you brand one, please? Also I take a question for you; in my native language collocations of words of common origin (I synthesized a couple but for better understanding, these are not translations of whatsoever kind: 'to dream a dream', 'to speak a speech') are considered grammatically wrong and used mostly in humorous context. How do such collocations sound to a native speaker and is there a place for such expressions in academic English?
badfiles
Hello Badfiles,
You lot tin use these collocations as stylistic elements, as long as it's understood that that is what they are. For example, an essay almost Martin Luther Rex would nigh necessitate that he dreamed a dream because that's a famous part of his landmark speech. (by the style, we don't speak a speech, we deliver it).
Also, I'm non certain what you hateful by sequence of tenses. Do you mean when nosotros mix tenses in a sentence?
Adam
I'one thousand very appreciated for your videos, Adam!
Ironically, before I had known you on engVid.com where I had establish your useful courses about English grammer, I could inappreciably sympathize dependence clauses, which were very foreign and abstract to me, even if I was a difficult-working pupil who had made a lot of endeavor on learning English for more than a decade.
Sinonerdius
What's more, have yous made the video nearly HOW TO CONSTRUCT DEPENDENT CLAUSES, as you've mentioned in the get-go of this video which is chosen "Avant-garde English Grammar: Dependent Clauses"?
Sinonerdius
They're on their way Sinonerdius :)
Adam
This lesson is nearly difficult 1 I've seen on Engvid, thanks alot tho.
georgi
Howdy over again, Why did you lot call the 'preparatory information technology' 'prepatory'? Would y'all make a lesson on preparatory subject, please?
badfiles
Will do ;)
Prepatory… I make this mistake frequently. Good eye, though. When it'south spoken, the 'ra' sort of melts into the rest of information technology.
Adam
Sorry, I'll study again.
Climbgreat
Thanks a lot for the explanation but it was very difficult for me, i need to written report more and repeat this video again :(
yanita antoko
Hi Adam, congratulations for your classes and explanations….I really love them. 1 comment, in the outcome of the last question, the vi. Clause should start with the pronoun "who" instead of elementary students, shouldn't it?. I mean the adjective clause begins with "who might exist negstively…etc", correct? Thanks a lot.
Silvias
Hi Silvias,
Yes, yous're right. I call up it was a typo in the transcription. The simple students are role of the previous clause.
Good eye :)
Adam
sorry, i don't undertand this sentence i knew she was actually happy , i met the right person i retrieve that why she was happy, because i met the correct person. so this is a relationship, that may be a adverb clause. i know that nosotros have "when" at the beginning of the sentence, so can i do like this"i new she was happy because i met the right person" i'm quite complicated, hope yous explicate for me, many thanks adam
thanhhp118
How-do-you-do Thanhhp,
Yes, I can write it with because which would make information technology an adverb clause, but I tin can also write it every bit …happy that I met… as a complement noun clause that acts like an adverb.
But remember: if I wrote I knew she was happy. –this would be complete independent clause. The complement only completes the pregnant of happy.
Does this help?
Adam
Hello,Adam.I nonetheless dont know how to apply "that" clause and how to recognize what is "that" clause.
liulizhengyi
Hullo Liulizhengyi,
I will brand more videos about each type of clause separately :)

blueapplee
Hi Blueapplee,
Everywhere ways in all places (definite). Anywhere means in all places (indefinite). In other words everywhere leaves no room for doubt (Air is everywhere, in all places all the time). Anywhere means it can be at whatsoever place at any time, simply non in every identify every time (like air). Wherever is like anywhere, except that it is used as a conjunction in a sentence (I volition run across you lot wherever yous desire vs. I'll come across you lot anywhere (that) yous want.
Does this assist?

Dear Adam, thanks a lot for helpful lesson! Could you lot clarify one moment? In the terminal example, which is the most complex sentence, isn't there an extra dependent clause? I mean the clause ",who was only 18 when she had me,". Couldn't the role "when she had me" be an adverb-clause as well? Thank you in accelerate!
Andrey Kh.
Hi, Adam. Cheers a lot for your lessons. But I can non sympathise question ii in the quiz. 'It is very important to keep in heed that non everyone volition agree with your opinion.' Why the right answer is 'noun clause as subject field'? I supposed that field of study is 'It', not clause.
Could you explain delight?
Nadia

Hi, Sir. I have a question. See these sentences: I am the student. I pass the test. I am the student who passes the examination. I am the student who laissez passer the exam. which circuitous is the correct one, please. I will be thankful if you explain. Thanks
Barkat Basham
Hello, Barkam. Grammatically, sentences i and ii are correct, only if you need a correct circuitous sentence with a relative clause, yous need sentence 2. Information technology has an independent clause: "I am the student" (I = field of study, am = verb) and a dependent relative clause: "who passes the test" (who = bailiwick and at the same time, a link between the clauses, passes = verb). The second clause describes what type of educatee you are. Though, to audio more natural, it is better to say: "I am the educatee who passed the test" (if you mean that you HAVE passed the exam) The sentence "I am the pupil who passes the test" means rather "I always pass tests, information technology is characteristic of me". I hope this caption is enough :)

Thanks a lot Adam !! You are the best teacher I have ever seen :)

Hello, adam. I teach english for competitive exams. I would like to share some of my doubts with you.
ane. The invitee whom we were talking near have come are my cousins.
This question has been asked atleast x times in govt. Exams. The ans is replace whom with who. Just it is not the respond that is bothering me. Hither three clauses are used just just ane conjunction is used why??? As fr as my opinion is concerned i think here one relative pronoun was non considering it was understood and acting as the object of verb talking. Please tell me what yous think abou this.
Amansharma12348
Hi Adam, you are a great teacher. I really want to understamd this quiz meliorate. I need help and I tin can get it if someone tells me if I am correct. At the outset question: When Jessica feels sad- adverbial clause of time; 'she likes to listen to pitiful songs -contained clause'; 'which somehow helps her feel amend'-adjective clause. At the 7 question: 1.Although about dogs are more often than not very friendly animals- adverbial clause of contrast 2. it is important to think-independent clause; 3. that they can be very dangerous-noun clause; 4. if they experience-adverbial clause of condition 5. that they are beingness attacked.-noun clause; Plus, information technology is a huge trouble for me that I find the noun clause used as a straight object clause and the 'that' clause very similar, because both of which have the proprietary that 'that' is a conjunction that can often exist taken out. This is a major trouble in my process of learning English I am looking forward for a reply, please. I can not run into whatsoever distinction.I even watched the Alex's lesson about the 'that' clause and yet doesn't help me.
StudentMaria
Hi StudentMaria: If I am 'someone',I might share my feel. Go along trying to focus on Adam'southward video most sentence structure. You are right in your analysis well-nigh the start and the seventh question.Let me try to follow your problem: About structure: As yous suggest, the noun clause and the 'that' clause have the proprietary *that* (conjunction). But *that*has no whatever mean in them (dependent clause–the noun clause and the 'that' clause ). *that* merely tin can be a symbol(sign) introducting dependent clause–the noun clause and the 'that' clause. About function: Both take the same shape ,merely have unlike part according to the position they will be. The substantive clause(dependent clause) can human action as subject in the independent clause then it should be in the position of subject (before verb). The noun clause(dependent clause) can act as object in the independent clause so it should exist in the position of object (later on transitive verb). The noun clause(dependent clause) tin act as complement in the contained clause then information technology should be in the position of complement (considering of be verb). The 'that' clause(dependent clause) doesn't care nigh the verb. The 'that' clause(dependent clause)follow(be adhere to) the thought (in independent or other dependent clause) it want to change or to consummate . Hope this helps!

Very good lesson. I'yard improving my writing while I'm doing your lessons on "clauses"
danieldejesus
Hello Adam. Thanks a lot for useful lessons. But I accept some questıons most that clause. How tin can I differ that clause from noun clause? And in last example judgement you wrote "I knew she was really happy I met the rıght person", in this sentence why "she was really happy" can non be a noun clause. What I knew? Thanks a lot
Joshgun
Hello Joshgun, a quick way to tell a "that" complement from a noun clause is, replacing the
complement/clause with a "what" and meet if it's still a grammatically correct
sentence. For case: * I knew (that) she was really happy. → I knew what? ( ✓ ) * She was really happy (that) I met the right person. → She was really happy what? ( x ) That's how I differentiate them.
Based on what Adam said from 00:02:07-00:07:36, a substantive clause can only be a field of study,
object(including obj of prep, obj of verb) or a subject area complement.(I reclassify the
5 situations into iii for memorizing) In this case, "I met the right person" doesn't fit in whatever of the three situations
listed above. If you are confused about the complement, this video from Adam will help yous a lot: https://www.engvid.com/english-grammer-the-sentence/

Hi, Adam!
Offset congratulations for all your lessons. So, I am studying virtually this topic with you, and I would like to know if the assay on the sentence below is right:
It is a substantive clause, subject complement, correct?
– Patients who want to meet the doctor should sit in the waiting expanse.
Thanks in accelerate
Luciana Ruis
Hi Adam,
Now, I realized the sentence that I am analyzing, actually is an Adjective Clause right? ha ha ha – Patients who want to see the doc should sit in the waiting surface area.
Thanks once more!
Luciana Ruis
Adam,
Could y'all explicate more almost this judgement? The penultimate clause ended with the preposition "to", correct? Merely and so, the last clause comes with "who" in the heart. Then, the last sentence is an adjective clause or an object to the preposition "to"? Distressing if I am not beingness clear.
As the movie was about 2. what happens to children 3. who are exposed to violence 4. the school Board decided five. (that) it would be inappropriate to show to 6. elementary students who might be negatively affected by the content
Luciana Ruis
I secured four out of nine ,DC is quite tough.😞

A question from the end of the video:
"…I knew she was really happy I met the right person."
Should we not say, "…I had met the right person."?
AS0202
Hi,
I think "(that) I met the right person" is a substantive clause, which acts every bit the adjective complement. (considering the video of the noun clause).
Elhameh
Hi, Adam! Many thank you for all of what you have done so far. Since I constitute your videos on YouTube, I stated to watch them regularly. QUESTION I am improving my English on a day-by-day basis but I even so have a problem in understanding what tense should exist used in dependent clauses. I am talking about the natural sequence of tenses (not back shifting). For instance, "I volition do something, when he does something". The verb "do" in the adverb clause is used in the present simple, but information technology tells about the future. Why cannot we utilise "when he will practise smth"? (I know at that place are basic rules). Is there any guidance how to sympathise the natural sequence of tenses in English? Or maybe, information technology is a high time a new video on the bailiwick matter was prepared. (I'm joking). Your response is much appreciated.

For me "whose phone" don't make sense in this sentence, "who is the owns of the phone". I actually don't have got the sense of this. Is information technology by any hazard a mistake and the right word is "what"? In this manner I understand the judgement. Thank you very much.
tonifenucciu@gmail.com
to be more clear, when I utilize "whose" is it not necessary to use the verb "to exist" or like "to own" with?
tonifenucciu@gmail.com
Maybe, whose phone= the phone of whom? Really, it's not articulate to me how to apply and what is "whose". Is information technology an adjective or a pronoun or what?

whose phone, whose means possessive. none of whom or who business organization, both for people equally field of study or object

1st)Is this relevant to put that in front of "told me"? 2nd)without "that" or with "that"in front of told me, may i consider "I should wait" equally the complement or the "object" of "told me"? 3rd)is this grammatically correct to put "that" in front end of "I knew" such as "I knew that", and simultaneously to put in front end of "happy give-and-take" or earlier "I met phrase"?

How many practise you after is actually not a correct sentence though.
Hope this helps.

Hello MR.Adam
I have i question that I wish yous answer me .
Today I had an English exam and I started my paragraph with a claw .
Kickoff, it helps to know what subjects and objects are and do in a judgement. ;)
Adam
Hi Adam! Please tell me which is right:
1 Why do you wear this shirt today(now)?
2 Why are you wearing this shirt today(now)?
Thank you lot.
KATRIN777
Hello Katrin,
#ii is correct. You are wearing it now (continuous)
Simply… why exercise you wear that shirt every day?
Adam
Thank you Adam.
KATRIN777
Howdy Adam,
I demand to ask class students to sit in a single row with an arm altitude facing black board for exam purpose. What is the exact expression
imshakeelatk
Hello Imshakeelatk,
I need students to stand in single files, at arm's length from each other and facing the blackboard.
To tell the truth, though, the way y'all wrote it would also work ;)
Adam
Hi Adam, I am grateful.
imshakeelatk

mr.muhammedali
ufffff…. i'm non getting noun clause…..
jalal Farid
Not to worry Jalal. I'll make lessons on each blazon of clause soon :)
Adam
will be waiting for them…..
jalal Farid
Adam which of them IS or ARE I must use in the next sentences(from grammatical point of view):
ane There (IS/ARE) a divan, a desk and armchair in the room.
(or kleptomaniacal?),(or not even?)
Thanks.

Sambhu Biswakarma
Thanks, Adam.
But I've a question:
'waterlogged' and 'flooded' what is the departure?
Sophie
Distressing, 1 more question.
'north', 'northern' and 'northerly'
What is the deviation?
If 3 of them are as adjective, what is the difference?
Cheers.
Sophie
Hi Sophie,
A thing can exist waterlogged (like a tree, or a wall, etc.), but a place or a space tin exist flooded (lie a valley, or the basement).
n is a direction y'all take (according to a compass). (get due north five blocks, then plow east on Main Street). I t tin also exist a specific identify (with a upper-case letter letter of the alphabet) (I live in the Due north)
Northern is a place on map (I live in the northern United States). It can also distinguish between places ( i live in the northern role of the country and my sister lives in the South; the cuisine of northern China)
northerly is the direction something moves in
(He traveled in a northerly direction) or the origin of something (northerly winds–they are moving from the northward)

Adam
How-do-you-do Adam, Is the complement that clause an adverbial here as it's the reason for her happiness?
anp2008123
Mr Adam,
I've come across this judgement somewhere on the spider web:
I would like to have been there, only information technology wasn't possible.
Is this judgement right?
present + nowadays perfect + past simple
If yep, what sense is it? Explain.
Thanks
gag
Hi Fahdbensalman,
I think it should be: I would have liked to take been at that place… or I would have liked to be there… (the second one is preferable considering information technology's shorter and gets the point across)
I would similar is used to talk abut a future desire, and then doesn't work with the past.
Adam
Mrs. Rebecca,
I've learned the third provisional that:
If he had asked me, I would have helped him.
Simply I've come across this judgement somewhere on the web:
I would have helped, but he didn't inquire.
Is this judgement correct without "had" in the dependent clause?
Thanks
gag
Mr Adam,
I've learned the third conditional that:
If he had asked me, I would accept helped him.
But I've come beyond this sentence somewhere on the web:
I would have helped, just he didn't ask.

Yes!
After some revisions and one solar day afterward …
Now I feel more than accepted with "dependant clause".Certain it remains a niggling unsteady, luckily your side by side lessons will help to strenghten that.
Nearly the ninth question, and to check if I well sympathize. I'd tend to separate clauses like that :
5. (that) it would be inappropriate to prove to elementary students
6. who might be negatively affected by the content
Nobody has noticed it.

Howdy friend,
What is the difference between monument and memorial?
Are they both interchangeable in a sentence?
gag
Hi Fahdensalman,
A monument is a physical construction used equally a memorial. A memorial doesn't have to exist concrete. It tin can be a story, or sign or a memorial service.
Also, a monument can be a display of grandeur while a memorial is merely to remember something/someone.
Adam
Greetings! Mr Adam.
we urgently need more conjuctons lectures,I watched whole lectures well-nigh conjuctions just there are yet some of them that I need to know properly, every bit an example "whereas, whereby, simultaneously, still, such as ,such that" those can be emerged sometimes in IELTS

Maisy
Hullo Mr Adam,
It is difficult for me to …
Information technology is difficult for me to …
Is at that place any divergence between them?
Are they both interchangeable in a judgement?
Thanks
gag
For the most role, yes, they are interchangeable. Some "purists" would say that hard is not skilful form, but about people employ both.
Adam
I left two questions yesterday and I was informed that my comments are on the moderation. How long they will be on the checking?
Thank you lot.

Adam
Hello Adam,
I could not discover a lesson on sequence of tenses on your astonishing site.
Adam
This lesson is nearly difficult 1 I've seen on Engvid, thanks alot tho.
georgi
Howdy over again,
Why did you lot call the 'preparatory information technology' 'prepatory'?
Good eye :)
Adam
sorry, i don't undertand this sentence
i knew she was actually happy , i met the right person
i retrieve that why she was happy, because i met the correct person. so this is a relationship, that may be a adverb clause. i know that nosotros have "when" at the beginning of the sentence, so can i do like this"i new she was happy because i met the right person"
i'm quite complicated, hope yous explicate for me, many thanks adam
Adam
Hello,Adam.I nonetheless dont know how to apply
"that" clause and how to recognize what is "that" clause.

'It is very important to keep in heed that non everyone volition agree with your opinion.'
Why the right answer is 'noun clause as subject field'?
I supposed that field of study is 'It', not clause.
Could you explain delight?
Nadia

Hi, Sir. I have a question.
See these sentences:
I am the student.

At the outset question:
When Jessica feels sad- adverbial clause of time;
'she likes to listen to pitiful songs -contained clause';
'which somehow helps her feel amend'-adjective clause.
At the 7 question:
1.Although about dogs are more often than not very friendly animals- adverbial clause of contrast
2. it is important to think-independent clause;
3. that they can be very dangerous-noun clause;
4. if they experience-adverbial clause of condition
5. that they are beingness attacked.-noun clause;
Plus, information technology is a huge trouble for me that I find the noun clause used as a straight object clause and the 'that' clause very similar, because both of which have the proprietary that 'that' is a conjunction that can often exist taken out. This is a major trouble in my process of learning English I am looking forward for a reply, please. I can not run into whatsoever distinction.I even watched the Alex's lesson about the 'that' clause and yet doesn't help me.
StudentMaria
Hi StudentMaria:
If I am 'someone',I might share my feel.
Go along trying to focus on Adam'southward video most sentence structure.
You are right in your analysis well-nigh the start and the seventh question.Let me try to follow your problem:
About structure: As yous suggest, the noun clause and the 'that' clause have the proprietary *that* (conjunction).

Joshgun
Hello Joshgun,
a quick way to tell a "that" complement from a noun clause is, replacing the
complement/clause with a "what" and meet if it's still a grammatically correct
sentence. For case:
* I knew (that) she was really happy.
→ I knew what? ( ✓ )
* She was really happy (that) I met the right person.
→ She was really happy what? ( x )
That's how I differentiate them.
Based on what Adam said from 00:02:07-00:07:36, a substantive clause can only be a field of study,
object(including obj of prep, obj of verb) or a subject area complement.(I reclassify the
5 situations into iii for memorizing)
In this case, "I met the right person" doesn't fit in whatever of the three situations
listed above.
If you are confused about the complement, this video from Adam will help yous a lot:

Hi Adam,
Now, I realized the sentence that I am analyzing, actually is an Adjective Clause right? ha ha ha
– Patients who want to see the doc should sit in the waiting surface area.

A question from the end of the video:
"…I knew she was really happy I met the right person."
Should we not say, "…I had met the right person."?
AS0202
Hi,
I think "(that) I met the right person" is a substantive clause, which acts every bit the adjective complement. (considering the video of the noun clause).

Hi, Adam! Many thank you for all of what you have done so far. Since I constitute your videos on YouTube, I stated to watch them regularly.
QUESTION
I am improving my English on a day-by-day basis but I even so have a problem in understanding what tense should exist used in dependent clauses.

Is information technology an adjective or a pronoun or what?
tonifenucciu@gmail.com
whose phone, whose means possessive. none of whom or who business organization, both for people equally field of study or object

Howdy Adam, I have some questions.
When my mother, who was just eighteen when she had me, told me (that) I should await untill I got older to marry Lucy. I knew (that) she was really happy (that)I met the correct person.
